Turn Your Vision Into Reality

We offer obsessively tested assemblies and components for all your projects.

We offer unparalleled dedication to the success of your project – and it all starts with the science.

What does that mean?

Here at Lake Street Supply, we perform endless tests, always examining our assemblies and products from an R&D standpoint. If it can be better, then we’re going to find that solution or die trying.

That mindset has helped us serve our clients and customers to the utmost. When we work on a project for you, we guarantee we’ll never just “throw something out there” that we haven’t sent to a lab or talked to a scientist about. If it finds its way into your project, it’s because that component or assembly really and truly works, whether it’s …

Moreover, we don’t hold a rigid viewpoint on products or systems. If you don’t get the results you want, we want to figure out why: climate? location? component? By breaking down and examining each aspect, we ultimately form a science-based opinion about what went wrong and what could be better.

To sum up: The projects we work on are ultimately about you. Until you’re happy, we’re not happy. That said, our clients and customers are routinely delighted with our products, and we have a feeling you will too. Ready to get started?

Featured Project:
Chicago’s 606

A multi-use community space requiring a whoooooole lot of perfectly formulated soil.

The 606. Ever heard of it?

If not, you really need to pay it a visit some Sunday. Just take a left on Sheridan Avenue, head down to … actually, you know what? You can figure that part out.

If you have heard of it, then you already know that this 2.7-mile, multi-use community space runs through four neighborhoods, as well as providing 80,000 citizens with a gorgeous green escape less than 10 minutes away.

This isn’t just any green space, though. It’s one of a growing number of reimagined rail lines, rescued from derelict status and transformed into a blooming oasis on Chicago’s Northwest Side. Where many people saw an old elevated train, the project’s masters saw an opportunity to dig out the tracks and put the existing, still-sturdy walls of the structure to good use.

Naturally, the project was not without its challenges. The soil, for one thing, was very tricky. It needed to retain stormwater and provide an excellent ecosystem for plant life, while avoiding the buildup of hydrostatic pressure that might burst the walls. Tall order.

This is a job for … Lake Street! (Said many people at the time, we assume.)

That’s right: We supplied all the engineered soil on The 606, one of the largest projects of its kind worldwide. As you can imagine, that meant one of the largest orders of growing media ever placed. It took thousands of semi-truck loads to fill that puppy up.

That’s a lot. Like, a lot a lot, not to mention a great deal of testing and persistence beforehand. But we’re proud to say we got it right, and the result is a beautiful home to plants, animals, dog-walkers, runners, bikers, commuters and more. A picture is worth a thousand words, though, so check out the gallery below!

Of course, The 606 is far from the only feather in our cap.

We’ve worked on projects large and small, from Chicago to broader Illinois, from Baltimore to Manhattan and beyond. In addition to countless green roofs and urban gardens, we’ve supplied numerous large pedestal paver orders to architects, contractors and installers, both within and outside Chicagoland.

From schools and community spaces, green roofs and landscapes, we’re proud to offer the products and systems that make green infrastructure shine. We even played a major role in McDonald’s HQ, right here in Chi-Town.
