We only have one Earth, people.
And as far as we know, science hasn’t yet figured out how to make new ones. Though we eagerly await that day (#terraformingbaby), we’re thinking that in the meantime, we should probably protect the planet we’ve got.
That’s why we care so much about products that provide environmental, social and economic benefits. Products that protect public health, stop stormwater in its tracks and make our cities more livable.
Oh, and products that do so over the entire usage cycle of the product. None of that “works for a while” BS at Lake Street.
Perhaps most importantly, we sell components that work best as a whole.
No longer do you have to painstakingly source one piece of your assembly here and another one there. Instead, you’ll find every part under one roof, each one carefully formulated to provide maximum results by working in tandem with the others.
Because that’s the thing about assemblies … they’re better when each piece is specifically designed to complement the others. Forget jury-rigging or shooting blindly; our assemblies don’t disappoint. Ever.
Like, EVER. Because then we’d have to kill them.
We know that designating products as “sustainable” isn’t a black-or-white issue, though.
Just like with a vehicle or appliance, there are a lot of factors that go into separating the good from the bad and making a truly informed choice.
Therefore, we evaluate products based on several criteria, asking questions such as:
Is it locally sourced? How big is its carbon footprint? From what is it made? Does it contain recycled or reclaimed content? How efficient is it at managing stormwater? Does it help conserve energy? Does it contribute to chemical pollution in the environment, or reduce it?
… and much more. Only when we determine that a product does the minimum amount of harm and the maximum amount of good do we allow it to enter our lists.
Like gladiators, but for the environment.
We offer more than just materials, too. Our friendly team is also happy to assist you with any questions you might have to help you realize the most sustainable possible project, today and tomorrow … and all the tomorrows after that.
The “green movement” is more than a movement these days; it’s a full-on way of life. We do our best to contribute where we can.
One of our passion projects is urban gardens and other community spaces that provide major value to the public. That’s why, throughout the history of Lake Street Supply, we’ve teamed up several times with organizations and the city to help urban farmers and citizens do their thing.
It all starts with soils, which is why we take testing very seriously, helping to bring life back into formerly sterile urban spaces. We’d love to tell you more, which is why (drum roll, please) we’ve got a video for you:
If you have an idea for implementing a community space, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help!
Let’s do this sustainable thing.
So what do you say? Are you ready to help us make Earth the most sustainable it can be, so we can enjoy it for generations to come?
We sure are. At least until they terraform Mars, that is. In the meantime, we invite you to get in touch today.
